English for Neurodiverse Learners

English Language Training that actually gets You

Learning English is challenging. Learning English when your brain works differently? That's a whole other level.

We know. Because we are you.

At HRthrive, every single one of our English trainers is neurodivergent. We're not guessing what might work—we're teaching from lived experience. We understand sensory overwhelm, processing differences, executive function challenges, and the unique brilliance that comes with thinking differently.

Whether you're autistic, have ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia, or any other form of neurodivergence, our 16-week program is designed around how YOUR brain learns best—not how neurotypical textbooks say you should learn.

This isn't adapted mainstream teaching. This is English language learning built from the ground up for neurodivergent minds.

The 16-Week Program: Learning That Fits Your Brain

Program Structure

Duration & Format:

  • 16 weeks of supportive, structured learning

  • Twice-weekly sessions (1 hour + 5-minute break)

  • 32 sessions total = 32 hours of learning

  • Small groups: minimum 3, maximum 7 participants

  • In-person delivery only (within 70 miles of Taunton)

Why small groups?

  • Large classrooms can be overwhelming. Our maximum of 7 participants means your trainer can genuinely adapt to each person's needs, communication style, and learning preferences.

  • Create sensory-friendly, predictable environments

  • Read non-verbal communication more effectively

  • Build genuine community and peer support

  • Reduce screen fatigue and Zoom exhaustion

  • Offer immediate, flexible adjustments

What You'll Learn (Tailored to Your Goals)

  • Telephone and video call confidence

  • Navigating social aspects of work or study

Confidence and Self-Advocacy:

  • Communicating your needs clearly

  • Explaining your strengths and differences

Employer-Sponsored Training: Supporting Your Neurodivergent Workforce

For Organisations, Employment Support Services,

Are you supporting neurodivergent individuals into employment or career progression? Do you work with Job Centres, DWP, or other employment support organisations?

We partner with employers and support organizations to provide funded or sponsored English language training that recognizes and works with neurodivergent learning differences.

Why Partner With Us:

We understand employment barriers:
Language skills are often a hidden barrier for neurodivergent job seekers, not because of ability, but because traditional language teaching doesn't work for different brains.

We're part of the community:
Our trainers aren't just trained IN neurodiversity—we ARE neurodivergent. That authentic understanding builds trust and results.

We support sustainable employment:
By building genuine communication skills and confidence (not just rehearsed scripts), participants are better equipped for long-term success.

We work with your programs:
Whether you're a Restart Scheme provider, supported employment service, skills bootcamp, or employer with neurodivergent staff, we can tailor our program to fit your participants' needs.

Organisations We Work With:

  • Department for Work & Pensions (DWP) referrals

  • Employment support providers

  • Job Centre Plus partnerships

  • Local authority employment schemes

  • Neurodiversity-focused charities and organisations

How to Get Started

Frequently Asked Questions

What if I've failed at learning English before?
That wasn't failure—that was the wrong teaching method for your brain. Our approach is completely different. Many of our most successful learners struggled in traditional classrooms.

Will you understand my specific neurodivergent experience?
While we can't guarantee your trainer shares your exact diagnosis, they will be neurodivergent and trained to adapt to diverse needs. We lead with curiosity and respect, not assumptions.

What if I need extra breaks or accommodations?
That's literally what we're here for. Tell us what you need, and we'll make it work. No justification required.

Can I join if English is my second language AND I'm neurodivergent?
Absolutely! Many of our learners are both neurodivergent and non-native English speakers. We understand the intersection.

What if I'm not diagnosed but suspect I'm neurodivergent?
You don't need a formal diagnosis to join. If you feel this program is right for you, that's enough.

Will there be homework or tests?
We prefer low-pressure practice activities rather than traditional "homework." No surprise tests. Assessment is gentle and focused on your progress.

What happens if I miss a session?
Life happens. We provide catch-up materials and a brief recap when you return. We track attendance loosely for the certificate but we're understanding.

Can I bring a support worker or communicate via email instead of phone?
Yes to both. We're flexible about how you prefer to communicate with us.

Is the learning environment autism-friendly?
Yes—we consider lighting, noise, seating, sensory needs, and predictability. We'll discuss your specific needs before you start.

Do you teach grammar rules?
Yes, but not in the traditional "drill and repeat" way. We use patterns, visuals, and practical application. Grammar serves communication—not the other way around.
